After an NBA season, the playoffs, the Finals, the draft, free agency and a trip to Las Vegas for Samsung Summer League, we’re taking a break for a bit. You’ll see us around the Hall of Fame inductions, then we’ll be back for the medal round of the FIBA World Cup, but until then The Starters will be enjoying the rest of their summer and recharging those metaphorical batteries you always hear about.

Stay tuned. Next season is less than a hundred days away.

Programming note: Happy Holidays

You may have realized that it’s Christmas time, which means it’s time for us to take a break. We’ll have a Christmas preview show coming soon, then an end-of-year episode that will play on NBATV a few times until the end of the year — neither of which will be streamed live, FYI. But after that, we’ll be off until January 2, when we return with a vengeance. No posts during that time either, since we’ll all be cozying up with our various loved ones.

So have a good Christmas, enjoy our end of year stuff, then come back January 2 for another year of The Starters. Be safe out there and enjoy it!

Welcome to The Starters

If someone were to ever ask me my favorite section of a magazine, I’d tell that too-curious print media obsessive that my favorite part of the magazine is the front part. No, not the underwear/cologne/milk ads. Also no, if you were thinking I meant the table of contents. The part I’m talking about, my favorite part, is that miscellaneous section that leads all magazines. GQ calls theirs the Manual and it’s where you’ll find “SLAMADAMONTH” and “Noyz” in a copy of SLAM. You know what I’m talking about — it’s the catch-all place for anything that’s interesting, regardless of form or function.

All of which is to say, welcome to The Starters, the official internet web log of The Starters, the NBA’s only live-streamed show that is also a podcast while still being a television show and website. My name is Trey Kerby, and I’ll be your editor. Nice to meet you. If you’re confused, this should help.
