On Tuesday’s live episode of The Starters, the guys discuss the Grizzlies clinching a postseason spot, the unexpected Phoenix Suns’ season, Andrew Bogut’s injury, Dwight Howard’s post moves, the Bobcats’ comeback, and the Bucks locking up the worst record in the NBA. All that, plus Brent Barry joins us to hand out some of his NBA hardware.
Shoutout: The best part of the end of the NBA season is randomly great lines that happen for no reason. And while it’s not Corey Brewer putting up 51, Tyreke Evans lighting up the Thunder for 41 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in a completely meaningless win is some hilariously good action. Thanks for showing up once the season was basically over, Reke.
Not so much: This really doesn’t belong here, but Nick Young put up 41 points — and a somewhat miraculous three assists — in a win for the Lakers. And it’s the win part that got him here, because Swaggy P putting up a season-high means the Lakers lost a few lottery combinations, which is maybe the most Nick Young ending to a season that is imaginable.
So goodbye and farewell, my old friend: The Grizzlies beat the Suns on the back of 50 points in the paint, so here’s a quality Zach Randolph post-up to show you what that was all about.
Awesome, surprising season for the Suns. Just too bad they had to run in to the absolute wrong matchup at the perfectly wrong time. Gonna miss you guys.
